Blooming Marvelous

The Queen inspects the flowers on the first day of the show.
As I am sure you know, the Chelsea Flower Show is running this week (22-26 May) in our fair city, and they couldn't have been luckier with the Weather! Despite the hosepipe ban and flash flooding across the country it has been a record year for the amount of gold medals being awarded.

Diarmuid Gavin made a splash as usual with his innovative 7 story high garden (certainly not for those who do not like heights) which features a helter skelter style slide to get you to the bottom. I wonder if any of the Chelsea pensioners had a go on it?

With security being stretched during the Olympics the police try using some extra help- overkill?

Lord of the Flies (or Rats)

It is a busy time here at Crew Towers, and we think the pressure has got to Crash a bit, he has started to wear peculiar headgear and bark orders at us from his white leather sofa ('they used to call me Ratty'). Lets hope some R & R at his new house in the country over the Easter weekend will sort him out. If we don't hear from Lottie and Ben by Wednesday we will know it all went a bit Lord of the Flies...

The Olympic Kit

The kit for team GB has now been revealed by Adidas and Stella McCartney. It features a very blue Union Flag (which should go down well with the Scottish members of the team) that has proven to be a bit controversial with the general public. The Athletes seem to like it though...

"It's important for us as a team to go out feeling like we look good and that is obviously gonna help our performance" says leading triple-jumper Philips Idowu. "If you look good, you feel good, you perform well."

That is a sentiment that we like to keep at the heart of all our work here at Crew a la Mode too.

Anyway we should be grateful that we are not Australian... we win in the style stakes!

From Boris Bikes to Boris Buses

This week in London we've seen the launch of the long-awaited new Routemaster-inspired buses. It's great to see that the original radical concept which was presented over 3 years ago has been absolutely delivered in production - the result is very cool.  Hopefully we'll be seeing shorter queues at the bus stop rather than longer ones with everyone wanting to hop on!

Spring is in the air...Time for the AW 12/13 collections!

Its Paris fashion week! London was, as always, fantastic with amazing shows and reasonable weather for once. We particularly liked Stella McCartney's avant guarde 'Special Presentation' evening wear show which was not so much a catwalk, but more of a dinner for the London A-list. Antipodium and Acne were among the highlights, as was the ever spectacular best-of-British brand Burberry Prorsum! Paris is sure to live up to all expectations although we do have to wait until the 6th to see Alexander McQueen, I am sure there is a saying for that...the last is worth saving for?!

It is worth taking a minute to check out London based company, Rapha. It is a cycle clothing brand, offering high performance race wear as well as their 'City Riding' collection for the more everyday (but still stylish) cyclist.

The wait is over for this season's must-have deck shoes.  We're big fans of the Spring/Summer '12 range of Sebago Docksides.  They have again brought the perfect modern twist to timeless style.
Whether it be hot pink, pastel purple or mint green; these colourful versions of the classic deck shoe will brighten up any wardrobe - now all we need is less snow and more sunshine!
